Dallas Literary Festival: Black Smoke

Journalist and Professor Karen Thomas moderates a conversation with chef and author Adrian Miller, Texas Monthly’s Jose Ralát, author of American Tacos: A History and Guide, and Brent Reaves, owner of Smokey John’s Barbeque, about the history of African Americans and the United States of barbeque.

More than 100 acclaimed national and local authors with diverse voices will converge in Dallas, March 13-22 for the Dallas Literary Festival, a series of in-person events on the SMU campus, at Fair Park’s African American Museum, and at other locations throughout Dallas. Headlining the festival is the 2020 Pulitzer Prize winner Nikole Hannah-Jones, author of The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story and 2021 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work-Nonfiction. She will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 22.
