06/15/2022 @ 7:00 pm 8:00 pm MDT

Local author Adrian Miller will lead us on an overview of the various emancipation celebrations that emerged in the nineteenth century and what they meant to African Americans. Hear how Juneteenth began in Galveston, Texas, spread across the U.S. and ultimately became a federal holiday. Miller’s discussion will also include the food traditions associated with this holiday. Adrian Miller served under President Bill Clinton and his Initiative for One America to address issues of racial, religious and ethnic reconciliation and remains active in local community organizations. Miller is also a food writer, attorney and certified barbecue judge.
