Four inductees will be selected to join an esteemed group of barbecue leaders
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 8, 2024) – The American Royal Barbecue Hall of Fame®, an organization dedicated to recognizing, documenting and preserving the heritage of barbecue, has announced the top ten finalists contending for four positions in the 2024 Hall of Fame:
- Danielle Bennett, Auburndale, Fla.
- Rick Browne, Portland, Ore.
- Steve Grady, Dudley, N.C.
- Andy Husbands, Andover, Mass.
- David Klose, Houston, Texas
- Ed Maurin, Kansas City, Mo.
- Phillip McClard, Hot Springs, Ark.
- Roy Perez, Lockhard, Texas
- Malcom Reed, Herenando, Miss.
- Van Sykes, Bessemer, Ala.
This year, 83 nominated barbecue enthusiasts were evaluated by a committee, and finalists were selected based on their contributions and achievements within the barbecue community. The Barbecue Hall of Fame aims to educate others about barbecue’s history and traditions while also honoring individuals who have made an outstanding impact on the world of barbecue.
Induction into the Hall of Fame is barbecue’s top honor. On May 22, the American Royal will announce the class of 2024, including four living Hall of Fame inductees from this year’s finalists and three legacy inductees who have passed. This year’s inductees will be recognized November 2nd during the 44th American Royal World Series of Barbecue®, in Kansas City, Kansas.
